You’re probably wondering what to do next after deciding to welcome Jesus into your life.
Take a look at our ‘Next Steps’ to help you walk with Christ.
Step 1 : understand the meaning of being a Christian
A Christian is a person who believes and follows the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
We follow Jesus because…
We are sinners.
We are all born with a sinful nature, and because of our sins, we cannot have a relationship with God unless we receive forgiveness from Him.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God – Romans 3:23
God helps.
Because we have sinned, we must receive forgiveness from God. Jesus Christ sacrificed His life so that we may receive forgiveness.
But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:23
So we follow Christ.
We receive help from God by giving our lives to Jesus.
If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. – Romans 10:9
Step 2 : Know what Christians believe
We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit, all three together as one God. We call this Triune God. As followers of Christ, we are born anew to live for Him.
God the Father
He is the creator of all things and calls us His children.
Consider this: How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. – 1 John 3:1
Jesus Christ the Son
Jesus is both fully God and fully human. Currently, He reigns in heaven and continues to intercede for us.
If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God – 1 John 4:15
Holy Spirit
The power of God’s life dwells within us through the Holy Spirit.
We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. – 1 Corinthians 2:12
God desires to have a relationship with us and provides ways for us to know Him better. As we come to know God, we understand His plans for us more deeply, and we strive to become more like Jesus.
We grow by…

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness – 2 Timothy 3:16
Pray daily.
Prayer is talking to God, and there is nothing more powerful than asking in prayer.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. – Philippians 4:6
Listen to the voice of God.
Talking to God is not a one-sided conversation; He wants to talk with us as well. Take time to learn to hear His voice and listen for His guidance for you.
